KNOW THYSELF (Lecture Recording)

Date Recorded: Friday, July 21, 2023

Speaker:

Susan Tish, CS

If you missed our friend’s, Susan Tish’s, wonderful talk called KNOW THYSELF given Friday, July 21,2023, you can see a REPLAY now on High Ridge House’s website at https://www.highridgehouse.org/

About the talk:

“In Christian Science we spend a lot of time thinking about who God is – and we should! It’s the first and greatest command, according to Christ Jesus – to love God with our heart and soul and Mind. God is the All-in-All is foundational to Christian Science practice. So how do we fit into the picture? Are we outside of that allness or of another realm apart from that allness? No, if God is all in all, we are included in that allness. We are in that wonderful oneness. As we gain a knowledge of ourselves as part of God’s allness, and an expression of that one Immortal Life, we are absolutely liberated from any limitation and free to express our entire birthright – the liberty and dominion that belongs to every child of God.

“This month’s talk will explore what it means to know our real identity and how this knowledge will invigorate our practice of Christian Science.”

“Know thyself, and God will supply the wisdom and the occasion for a victory over evil.” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy pg. 571:16-18).

Lecture description:  God isn’t sometimes good or just a little bit good, but all good, only good, always. Learn to think of God as pure goodness and that this same all-good God is the source of your being, your foundation. The power of God, divine goodness, is at work in all of our lives–providing solutions to difficult challenges. Discover this God-given foundation and then experience the life-changing effects of building on this solid basis.

Lecturer bio:

What I love about Christian Science is the way it answers pressing questions that come to all of us. Questions like Who am I? Why am I here? How can I find health and happiness? These questions were uppermost in my thought as I entered college. As an undergraduate, I studied music composition at Washington University in St. Louis. Then, I moved to Chicago, where I earned a master’s degree in music. I left the music business in 1994 to enter the full-time Christian Science healing practice, and in 2009 I became a Christian Science teacher.

My life has been transformed from living in fear for my health and uncertainty about the future to feeling secure in the spiritual basis for health and having a joyous expectation of good in the future. This transformation showed me the life-changing power of God’s goodness and the healing that results from understanding our oneness with God.
